Dell'ornellaia Le Serre Nuove is a big benchmark Italian red wine blend of 64% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot wine grapes from the Tuscany wine region. Look for ripe blackberry, raspberry and dark chocolate on the mid-palate with some hints of liquorice. The vintage is still quite tight and needs a couple of hour decanting if pouring now. Tannins are still firm. Le Serre Nuove is the little sibling of the famous Super Tuscan Ornellaia, and is a powerhouse in its own right.

Food pairings: lamb tangine, roast rack of lamb, beef long ribs on the barbie.

Reviews and Ratings

Dell'ornellaia Le Serre Nuove is a big, beautiful red wine blend from the Tuscany wine region with big, black-fruited smoky aromas and layers of full-bodied ripe blackberry texture and spice. The blend is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot all grown in Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's younger vineyards. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
