"Footbolt" is named in honour of the racehorse that founder Joseph Osborn had to sell in order to start the d'Arenberg winery in 1912. Since 1912, the Osborn family has farmed vineyards in the McLaren Vale. Full-bodied and a perfect match to grilled skirt steaks. Rich and vibrant with blackberry, blueberry, flinty and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are velvety. Drink or hold.

Shiraz food pairings: black bean soup, blue cheese, caramelized onion dip, grilled steak.

d'Arenberg's The Footbolt 2017 Shiraz is a consistent crowd-pleaser with blackberry, blueberry and menthol flavours on the palate. Great value under $20 as well. Medium-plus-bodied with balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins, the wine is not fined or filtered and was aged up to 18 months in French and American oak barrels. Pair with a grilled New York striploin steak. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
