Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lots of value for the dollar here. Deep and brooding ruby red colour. Thick legs showing extraction hint at the liquid jam in the glass. Rich black fruit, red cherry, plum, cake spice, pepper, oak. Medium-bodied with supple tannins. Medium+ acidity. Terrific BBQ wine.
Tasted: December 2014
This robust single vineyard Australian red wine is made form the Shiraz grape. The grapes for this robust red wine are sourced from heirloom vineyards. These winemakers see the devil in the weeds, allowing dandelions to grow among the vine grows as they suppress other weeds and provide nutritious mulch. The "wishing clocks" of white seed in the spring provide new life. The Shiraz grapes are sourced form a single vineyard in the foothills of the McLaren Vale. The vines are planted in ironstone pebble laden with clay loam, over ancient Kurrajong Formation geology of silica cemented conglomerate ideally suited to grow Shiraz. Bunches are hand picked in mid-March and fermented together in open top fermenters with ambient yeast and hand plunging for 12 days before basket pressing and aging in mostly French oak barriques before bottling without fining. This wine won both a Gold Medal and the Trophy for McLaren Vale Shiraz at the 2014 International Wine Challenge. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
