Natalie's Score: 92/100

A full-bodied, juicy French red wine with a good grip: needs decanting 2 hours. Aromas of black raspberries and cherries. Calls for a leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic. There were only 300 cases of this wine produced for the 2012 vintage. Beaucastel is an iconic Rhone Valley producer that also makes coveted Châteauneuf du Pape that sells for twice the price. Decant for 2 hours and enjoy.

Food pairings: grilled roast leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Dark fruit, wood smoke, dried figs, and brambleberry on the nose. A lovely wine! Tasted May 2015. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
As early as 1687, the property of Pierre de Beaucastel ennobled by King Louis XIV has been marked in the history of the Rhone Valley. The grapes for this robust French red wine are sourced from a 30 acre vineyard located just east of the vineyard of Chateau de Beaucastel. This wine is often called the "baby Beaucastel." The 2012 vintage of Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel is very full-bodied. - Community Wine Reviews
