Cotnari Grasa from Romania is a charming, medium-bodied semi-dry white made from 100% Grasa de Cotnari, a rare indigenous grape found nowhere else in the world, offering an inviting nose of ripe pear, poached quince, honeyed citrus peel, and a delicate whisper of dried wildflowers. At just 12% alcohol, it feels light and graceful on the palate, with a gentle sweetness that is beautifully balanced by a thread of refreshing acidity, finishing clean and lifted. Serve it well chilled and enjoy it through 2029 while its fruit remains at its most expressive. The winemaking team at Cotnari, Romania's only large vineyard dedicated exclusively to native grape varieties, has been tending these calcareous Moldavian hills since the winery was established in 1948. Remarkably, in a 15th-century Venetian wine catalogue, Grasa de Cotnari was listed as the most expensive wine in the world, and the Russian Czar Peter the Great famously declared after tasting it in 1711 that he had never known a finer wine.

Grasa food pairings: chilled melon wrapped in prosciutto, roasted chicken with a honey and thyme glaze, soft ripened brie with sliced pears and walnuts.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
