Yum! Savoury and juicy with fleshy ripe purple plums and blueberries. Full-bodied and smooth. A beautiful thing with pizza.
Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: pizza.

90+? - Loved this wine. Very different from the typical Malbecs. The other varieties are beautifully complementing the Malbec. The Tannat adds sophistication and elegance. It's clean, almost pure and smooth. Well integrated fruits. Hints of minerals and black pepper. What a great QPR offer.

The 2008 Colomé Amalaya is FRUITY to integrated, medium bodied wine with nice aromas of red currant, caramel and coffee. It has refined tannins (decant for 30 min) and a tangy, medium to long finish. It can be drunk now, but would benefit from aging for few years (2014-2018) if and only if it wasn’t for the FAKE cork enclosure used, completely eliminating the wine's aging potential!!!! My impression: NICE, 89 pts and a recommended buy especially at this price as it was originally sold for $18.95 – nearly $3 more. Tasted Aug/11.

The 2009 Bodega Colome Amalaya exhibits ripe fruit (blueberry?), floral scents, and some pepper on the nose. The palate shows cherries, and a bit of tobacco with prominent but smooth tannins and a nice finish. The Cabernet, Syrah, and Tannat give this wine an added sophistication that goes beyond your standard Malbec. Definitely a wine to seek out and give a try!
