A remarkable Ontario Chardonnay from a remarkable producer. Rich and full-bodied, yet balanced with great finesse. Honey-gold apple and toasty oak aromas. Long finish. Pair with roasted chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: ravioli served with Alfredo sauce, lobster in butter sauce, fish tacos, gougère.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

If ever you were looking for a high profile introduction to Prince Edward County Chardonnay, this wine is perfect. It showcases the County's cool climate style and the technical expertise of the vignerons. When PEC began to receive international recognition, Closson Chase was on everybody's lips for their traditional burgundian techniques contrasting new-world refinement. In spite of their fame, their production has remained limited - they have not compromised quality for quantity. They generally sell mostly through their wine club and at cellar door - rarely through third party retailers anymore. If you have the opportunity to try one, lucky you!
The colour is a pale lemon yellow - glasscoating.
Aromas of yellow plum, guava, beeswax, honey, cut hay, and heather. The palate is fresh and soft. Flavours of guava and passionfruit, mineral, overripe green apple, lemon candy, and a little hazelnut. It is oaked, i believe, but careful elevage and PEC freshness offset it.
-Reviewer's choice-
Winemaker Deborah Paskus has done it again with this 2013 vintage Chardonnay! Lots of layers and complexity with a deep core of minerality. - Community Wine Reviews
