Cline's Zinfandel grapes are sourced from dry-farmed vines planted more than 100 years ago, thus deserving the name Ancient Vines. The depth and concentration of that aging vine wisdom shows in the glass. Notes of blackberry and toasty, black fruit, tar, smoke and toasty oak. Full-bodied. Perfect for BBQ meats and a campfire. This is a truly mouth-filling wine. Big, long finish like a Broadway number... it's a dazzling kick-line for the senses. Warm, sunny days and cool nights along the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers provide unique growing conditions to produce robust, intense red wines.

Zinfandel food pairings: hearty meat meals, pasta, aged cheddar, pulled pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I love an old vine Zinfandel and this 2013 Ancient vines was tasty. I had this with a BBQ and the strawberry flavors with hints of chocolate made it a great match. I loved the fact this Zinfandel didn't have that high alcohol burning sensation on the palate. Some Zinfandel wines can have that taste and it takes away from the flavors of the wine. This wine would also pair really well with pork.
Barb Potocnik reviewed this wine as follows:

Given as part of birthday gift by Jess and Scott, Faraday... Had with prime rib to celebrate Stu's 30ieth late on May 17. Very very nice. Loved the dry taste.
This Californian Zinfandel sources grapes grown in dry-farmed vineyards, with vines planted more than a century ago. This robust Californian red wine was matured in both new and second use oak barrels imparting a lovely vanilla smoke finish. For the last century Clines' Ancient's Vines have been rooted deep in the sandy soils of Contra Costa County's Oakley Vineyards. - Community Wine Reviews
