A terrific and complex Californian blend of Sauvignon and Semillon grapes. Not loads of acidity: smoky but not buttery like chardonnay. Pair with shellfish.

Fumé Blanc food pairings: roast turkey leg and wings with lemon pepper and green herbs, smoked salmon benny, butternut squash ravioli.

Reviews and Ratings

This Fumé Blanc from Sonoma County is lemony, smoky, savoury and mouthwatering. Château St. Jean (2015) is a white wine blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. The wine is aged in aged in stainless steel tanks, as well as second-use oak barrels. Château St. Jean was founded in 1973. In California, Robert Mondavi termed Fumé Blanc as a way to distinguish his dryer versions of Californian Sauvignon Blanc. Pair with grilled seafood. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
