The Vieilles Vignes Côtes du Roussillon-Villages is a captivating blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and 10% Mourvèdre. The nose is intricate, offering layers of stewed dark berries, pencil shavings, graphite, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs, with hints of black olive. On the palate, it is well-rounded, balancing lively acidity with firm, refined tannins, while flavours of cocoa, blackcurrant liqueur, flowers, and a hint of smoky oak emerge. The finish is smooth and extended, leaving a lasting impression. Pair it with grilled lamb chops or a charcuterie board with a variety of aged cheeses.

Food pairings: rich meaty stews, meat-lover's pizza, juicy roast of pork.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Côtes Du Roussillon wine region, Château Rombeau, Elise 2019 is a Côtes Du Roussillon Villages red wine blend of 80% Syrah, 10% Grenache Noir and 10% Mourvèdre. Each varietal was fermented for three weeks in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats and then 12 months in French oak barrels with the final blended wine aged in bottle for up to 24 months. Dry, medium-bodied, fresh and fragrant with ripe dark fruits, grilled herbs and vanilla aromas, the south of France beauty is plushy and velvety on the palate with an anise and pepper spice finish. Pour with roast duck. Drink or hold to 2028. - Community Wine Reviews
