Made from grapes grown on vines that are 40 years old +. A robust blend of Tannat and Cabernet Franc. On the palate, tar, smoke and black fruit. Full-bodied, rustic and raring to go. Pair with grilled meats.

Tannat Cabernet Franc food pairings: roast veal, wild boar tenderloin venison stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby. Ripe plums and prunes, eucalyptus, charred wood and tar. Extra dry with full tannins that are well integrated and surprisingly soft for a tannat grape. Long, lovely finish of fresh cherries and violets that leaves you with a tingly mouthfeel. A superb match for full flavoured roasted meat, such lamb and boar.
Minty-band-aid, medicinal on the nose in a good way with wild blackberry notes mingling in. Gripping tannins. The southern French red wine is a blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Franc grapes. The vines are planted in extremely rocky soils as Gascony itself means "rocky location." Vieilles Vignes means old vines. The vineyards are nestled on the southern limit of the Madiran region. The Château Peyros winery produces well-structured, tannic red wines that are cellar-worthy. - Community Wine Reviews
