Pitch black in hue, aroma and flavour both on the nose and palate. Full-on southern French red wine. On the nose and palate, tar, smoke and black fruit. Full-bodied, rustic and raring to go. Pair with grilled meats. The southern French red wine is a blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Franc grapes. Made from grapes grown on vines that are 40 years old +. Pair with rare meats.

Food pairings: roast veal, wild boar tenderloin venison stew..

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

a softer nose of floral notes contrasted by what I thought smelled like BBQ sauce - unusual but not a negative. Measured black fruit with gravel and earth flavours. Still has firm tannins with fruit having softened a bit after 5 years. Drink now with rarer cuts of red meats.
Château Peyros Vieilles Vignes (2012) is a red wine blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Franc grapes. Made from grapes grown on vines that are over 40 years of age, there is lots of fresh plum and blueberry on the palate wrapped up with a smoky finish. Pair with rare meats. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
