Chateau Noaillac is a focused, classically structured Left Bank Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, grown on Garonne gravel soils in the far northern reaches of the Medoc, where Atlantic breezes and maritime fog off the Gironde estuary create a naturally cool, elegant growing environment. The nose is dark and inviting, with layers of blackcurrant, dried plum, graphite, and a thread of cedar and pressed violet that speak confidently of the appellation. On the palate it is full-bodied and bone dry, with firm, concentrated tannins that are built for the long term, a cool-toned minerality running through the mid-palate, and a persistent, focused finish. Serve it at slightly below room temperature and cellar through 2032 or beyond. Third-generation winemaker Damien Pages, considered a rising star of the Medoc, vinifies each parcel separately before assembling the final blend, a meticulous approach that brings out the best of his 41 hectares of vines averaging 20 to 25 years of age. Notably, Chateau Noaillac was elevated to Cru Bourgeois Superieur status in 2018, a rigorous distinction earned through evaluation of viticultural practices, environmental responsibility, and a blind tasting of five consecutive vintages.

Food pairings: slow-braised lamb shoulder with herbs and root vegetables, classic beef bourguignon with egg noodles, grilled duck breast with a red wine and shallot sauce.
