From St Estèphe, Bordeaux wine region, Château Morin 2018 is a dry, full-bodied red wine blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes were hand-harvested and the wine was matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (35% new) and vats. Fragrant with plum compote, blackberry jam and dried fine herbs, it is fresh and generous with blackberry jam, dark plum, cassis, dried fine herbs with a kiss of cacao and well integrated oak spice on the palate. Tannins are structured. If having tonight, decant for one hour prior to pouring it with a juicy filet mignon from the grill or cellar it to 2030. Established in 1800, Château Morin is located in Saint-Corbian, on the left bank of Bordeaux and vines overlook the Gironde on a single, organically farmed 10.5-hectare plot of clay, gravel and limestone, perched at the highest point of the Saint-Estèphe municipality.

Food pairings: roast beef, filet mignon, roast duck.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
