From Saint Estèphe, Bordeaux wine region, Château La Croix De Pez 2018 is a dry, full-bodied red wine blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc from an exceptional vintage. This opulent, under-the-radar Bordeaux is excellent value at $32 with a great wine pedigree as well neighbouring Montrose and Cos d’Estournel. The vineyard is planted on gravelly soils with good drainage giving character and elegance to the wine. Look for ripe blackberry, cassis, plum, crushed raspberry, pepper spice and flinty mineral flavours savoury on the palate balanced with brilliant acidity. Tannins are firm. Good now, better in 2023.

Food pairings: roast rack of lamb, turkey, roast chicken, duck.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
