Château de Tours Brouilly A.O.C. from the heart of Beaujolais is a medium-bodied, 100% Gamay from 45-year-old vines planted in sandy granite soils in a natural amphitheatre surrounding a medieval castle that has stood since the 10th century, when archaeologists found Roman coins in its foundations during renovations. On the nose it's lifted and fragrant, with hibiscus, pomegranate, clove, and a whisper of iron-tinged schist. The palate is bright and focused, with tart cranberry, thyme, and a long, silky finish with fine-grained tannins and lively, food-friendly acidity. Director Sébastien Kargul manages the estate with a focus on sustainable viticulture, using grass cover between vines to protect the soil and training the old vines in the traditional low Goblet style. Serve it lightly chilled now through 2029 with a grilled sausage cassoulet, where the wine's earthy brightness is a Beaujolais match that never goes out of style, or try it with roast duck where its bright acidity cuts through the richness of the bird.
