Cave Vinicole de Cleebourg was founded in 1946 in the aftermath of World War II by approximately 170 winegrowers from Cleebourg and its neighbouring villages at the very northern tip of Alsace, a region where winemaking stretches back to the 8th century when Benedictine monks from the Wissembourg Abbey first planted vines here. This dry Pinot Gris opens with ripe stone fruit, a smoky warmth characteristic of the variety in Alsace, and a touch of spice from the cooperative's granite and limestone soils, then delivers a full-bodied, mouth-coating palate of peach, a honeyed richness, and a long, complex finish with balanced acidity. With 60% of grapes still harvested by hand across the sprawling cooperative vineyards, this wine reflects a genuine commitment to quality that belies its cooperative origins. Drink it now through 2029 with roast pork with fruit stuffing, duck à l'orange, or a rich Alsatian tarte flambée.

Pinot Gris food pairings: roast pork with fruit stuffing, duck à l'orange, Alsatian tarte flambée.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
