This red starts out fleshy and round, then the vivid acidity cuts through, focusing the flavors of cherry, strawberry and rose hip. Sweet spice and black pepper notes add detail as this cruises to the long finish. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2037. [Decant for one hour to enjoy tonight.] (James Suckling,jamessuckling.com,Monday, Jul 21, 2025) MINE: Castelgreve Riserva 2020 Chianti Classico from Castelli del Grevepesa pours a bright ruby, then opens with fleshy, round cherry and strawberry aromas cut by vivid acidity. On the palate, juicy blackberry and dark cherry mingle with savory herb, toasted almond and mocha nuances, all framed by pleasantly chewy tannins. Sweet spice and a kiss of black pepper add detail as it cruises to a long, focused finish. Decant for one hour to showcase its depth. Best from 2026 through 2037. This is the perfect match to rich, meaty lasagne al forno loaded with melted cheese. NEW: Castelli del Grevepesa pools fruit from growers across Chianti Classico for this Riserva. There's dark plum here, backed by clove and a whisper of tobacco. Chewy tannins carry a long finish, structured and fresh from start to end. Serve it with beef or a wild mushroom risotto.

Chianti Classico food pairings: beef, mushroom risotto, blue cheeses on burgers.
