Rustic and robust with blackened fruit flavours and lots of oak. Made from the low yielding Cesanese grape in the Lazio region of Italy near Rome on the central west coast, the so-called "knee" of Italy's "boot" geographically. Finishes with dark spices. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: vegetarian lasagne, Porchetta, Feta stuffed hamburger.

Reviews and Ratings

Lazi is located on central Italy's west coast and is the "knee" of Italy's "boot." Casale Del Giglio (2014) is made from the Cesanese red wine grape. This variety comes from the Latium Province of Frosinone, once inhabited by the ancient Volsci tribe and thereafter cultivated by the Romans when they established a colony there in 385 BC. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
