The Carpineto Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. from Tuscany is a majestic 100% Sangiovese Grosso aged well beyond the minimum time required by appellation law, emerging from the cellar with a refined nose of dried red cherry, sun-warmed pomegranate and a wisp of forest floor, while the medium-plus-bodied palate delivers concentrated layers of tart wild berry, earthy sous bois and warm cedar spice, all framed by firm, beautifully resolved tannins and a breathtakingly long, mineral-tinged finish. It is bone dry and built to evolve, so serve it at room temperature, decanting for at least an hour before pouring, and enjoy from 2026 through 2036. Winemaker Caterina Sacchet, who inherited not only the cellar keys but an encyclopedic knowledge of Sangiovese from her pioneering father, carries forward a family legacy that co-founders Giovanni Carlo Sacchet and Antonio Mario Zaccheo launched in 1967 with the singular ambition of producing world-class Tuscan wines at a time when most Chianti still arrived in straw-covered fiasco bottles. In a remarkable milestone, co-founder Giancarlo Sacchet became the first Italian ever to be awarded Best Winemaker in the World at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition in London in 1994, a triumph that announced Carpineto's arrival on the global stage. Pour it alongside a slow-roasted leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic, where the wine's dark cherry depth and earthy warmth mirror the savory richness of the meat, or serve it with a hearty venison ragu over hand-rolled pappardelle, letting the wine's firm structure and concentrated fruit rise magnificently to meet every bite.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: roast leg of lamb, venison ragu, meat-lover's pizza.
