A juicy and intense Syrah rich with dark cherry, cold tea, earthy violets and pepper spice flavours on the palate. The south facing slopes of the winery's Penasco vineyard are mainly formed by granite soils which act like a sponge and regulate the water delivered to the vines, reducing vine vigour thereby concentrating the flavour of the fruit. The Apalta region of Chile benefits from warm days and mild night which accentuates the spicy and dark floral notes in the wine.

Syrah food pairings: grilled pork chops, rare roast beef, burgers with blue cheese, spice-braised lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Carmen 2018 Gran Reserva Syrah is produced from wine grapes sourced from a single vineyard in the Colchagua Valley. Generous and ample on the palate, meaty with ripe dark fruit aromas on the nose. Full-bodied and vibrant with blackberry, dark cherry and plum compote flavours and a lingering black pepper spice and mint finish. pair with roast leg of lamb. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
