The Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. from Tuscany is a majestic, 100% Sangiovese red crafted by winemaker Massimo Bracalente from estate vineyards spread across all five sides of the hill of Montalcino, a rare geographic advantage that brings extraordinary complexity to every bottle, spending three years in large Slavonian and French oak casks before release. It is dry and medium-to-full-bodied, with an elegant nose of sour cherry, dried rose petal and a wisp of iron-tinged earth, while the palate delivers concentrated flavors of wild berry, star anise and warm cedar, all carried by firm yet polished tannins and a breathtakingly long finish. Serve it at room temperature, decanting for at least an hour before serving, and enjoy now through 2040, as this wine will only deepen and reward patience. Caparzo is the only estate-bottled producer in all of Montalcino with vineyards on every side of the hill, and Wine Spectator has honoured the estate as one of Brunello di Montalcino's Cream of the Crop producers, a testament to the estate's founding vision when a group of wine-passionate friends rescued a centuries-old ruin from neglect back in the late 1960s. Pour it alongside a slow-roasted leg of venison with a rich red wine and juniper reduction, where the wine's earthy depth and dark fruit are a seamless match for the gamey richness of the meat, or serve it with a prime rib roast studded with garlic and fresh rosemary, letting the wine's structure and elegance rise to meet every magnificent bite.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: roast beef, slow-roasted venison ribs in a red wine sauce, roast leg of boar.
