Reviews and Ratings

Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

Feb 2, 2014: Made from the Cesanese grape, this appears deep ruby purple in the glass. Interesting nose with stewed dark fruit and yeasty aromas, along with earthy, dark chocolate, leather and oxidized/tawny notes. On the palate, plummy and almost off dry. There is a tartness to the acidity and it feels like it was sweetened to try and pull it into balance. Tannins are fine grained. Pretty simple wine that loses what little interest it has with air time. Drink now with grilled protein with BBQ sauce perhaps pulled pork.
Notes of blueberry, leather, vanilla, black fruit and dry stones. Tangy and youthful in the mouth with a nice depth of black fruit flavour supported by quite firm and drying tannins. A nice match for barbecued fare. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Feb. 2013

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
