Zaccagnini Tralcetto 2022 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is pure value at $19. This 100% Montepulciano pours a bright ruby and seduces with sour cherry, wild raspberry and bramble-fruit aromas, spiked by cracked black pepper and savory thyme. The medium-bodied palate stays fresh and lifted—juicy red berries flow into mocha-kissed tannins and a wisp of smoke on the lingering finish. Since Marcello Zaccagnini founded the estate in 1978, each bottle remains tied with a dried vine cutting, a signature touch that speaks to its Abruzzese roots. Great with pappardelle with spicy pork ragù, meaty lasagne al forno or a smoked-meat charcuterie platter.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo food pairings: Mexican mole, grilled sirloin steak, gourmet burgers.
