Cantina Negrar Corvina Veneto I.G.T. is a light to medium-bodied, extra-dry red from the hills of Valpolicella, north of Verona, giving Corvina, the backbone grape of Amarone and Ripasso, a chance to shine on its own terms. The nose leads with tangy cherry and warm spice, carrying through to a palate that's smooth and satiny with soft tannins and a clean finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature and drink it through 2028. Cantina Negrar is a cooperative founded in 1933, and the oldest known bottlings of Amarone ever found came from their cellar, dating to vintages between 1936 and 1942, making them the likely birthplace of one of Italy's most celebrated wine styles.

Corvina food pairings: braised beef short ribs with polenta, pasta with slow-cooked pork ragù, grilled chicken thighs with herbs and olive oil.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
