Lovely black cherry aromas and flavours, rich in flavour complexity and yet this wine remains medium-bodied and smooth and supple. The alcohol is high yet the wine doesn't smell or taste hot: that's the definition of balance.

Pinot Noir food pairings: chicken, pasta, planked salmon, braised lamb, roast beef, rosemary pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a very approachable Central Coast California Pinot Noir. Ripe red berries, cherry syrup, lift of mint, fresh flowers and some toffee and sour cherry on the long finish. At $70 it is breaking the bank a little especially given that it is not a Napa Pinot Noir. However, there's good craftsmanship and cellar potential of 3-5 years making it a great gift wine. Medium acidity and French oak aging. Pair with planked salmon, Easter dinner turkey or ham.
Tasted: April 2015
This vines for this Californian Pinot Noir are planted in limestone soils at 2,200 feet above sea level and 90 miles south of San Francisco. Winemaker Josh Jensen uses native yeasts and barrel ages the wines for 16 months in 60-gallon French oak barrels. This wine undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation and no filtration. The 2011 Pinot Noir Ryan Vineyard finishes with dark spices and some pepper. - Community Wine Reviews
