Cabral's Seleção from Douro is a concentrated, full-bodied red wine blending Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão and Tinta Amarela with notes of dried black fruit, plum, smoke and mineral. This dry wine displays balanced structure and intense flavors that will continue to develop over the next five years. Serve it at room temperature with slow-braised beef short ribs as the wine's bold character stands up to the rich meat, or pair it with grilled venison sausages where the wine's spicy notes complement the gamey flavors. Winemaker João Cabral crafts this classic Douro blend from vines ranging from twenty to sixty-five years old, drawing from the region's steep terraced vineyards where schist soils and extreme conditions produce wines of remarkable concentration and complexity. The Douro Valley has been producing exceptional wines for centuries, and modern producers like Cabral are demonstrating that the region offers outstanding value beyond its famous Port wines. This well-made red represents excellent quality at an attractive price and will drink beautifully through 2031.

Food pairings: roast beef, tourtiere, venison ragu, grilled game sausages.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
