Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Nice power on the nose of this southern Italian Red as formidable notes of ripe, jammy, and dried red fruit and dark fruit, particularly cherry and prune, play with mild spice, tobacco, and smoke. Bouquet impressively fruity for a wine in the eighth year of its life. Typical Aglianico in that it is high in alcohol, acid, and tannins, though there is an appreciable roundness to those tannins. Palate and finish mimic the nose with fruit leather, stewed fruits, and earthy cedar. Think rich and robust: oxtail.
Borgodangelo 2011 is a medium-plus-bodied 100% Aglianico red wine from the Campania's Taurasi wine region, with grapes grown at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. Deep garnet in the glass (showing some age) with red and dark berry, mocha and cedar spice flavours on the palate. Good acidity for food. Pair with game dishes. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
