A superb Californian red wine blend with deep richness and complexity. Aromas of dark red fruit, smoke and dried herbs. Juicy and mouth-watering. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is a smoking value from a winemaker with a lot of enthusiasm for neat varietal blends. This blend is composed of three blockbuster hot-climate grapes Lodi and Clarkburg can do wonders with. Zinfandel, Petit Syrah, and Mourvèdre all vie for you attention. Barrel aging is done with careful attention to what effect a used barrel has to offer - it gives the wine much needed subtlety.
Ruby coloured, with some orange bricking happening on the edges. Aromas of burnt sugar and stewed red fruit explode out of the glass. There's red liquorice, currant, prunes, and cocoa powder too.
Flavours cover a pretty broad range. Black cherry, plum, jammy berry, chocolate, tobacco, old leather, and scrub herb really build out, as this big wine has a chance to breathe. The alcohol peeks out perhaps a little much, but this may just be a crime of youth. Could easily cellar, but much attention was paid to making it delicious now.
