Reviews and Ratings

Juicy, complex, concentrated and rich: this is a staggeringly great value for the money! Fleshy black plums, smoke and pepper. Pair with grilled meats. MINE: From the Navarra wine region in Spain, Viña Magaña (2010) is a red wine blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Tempranillo and 10% Syrah. The wine was aged over a year in 70% new and 30% old French oak and is structured, deep purple in colour, dark fruit and smoky on the palate. Drink now and for the next three years. OTHER: Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: This is a juicy Spanish blend of Merlot, Cabernet, Tempranillo and Syrah and boy is it dense! An almost opaque purple colour in the glass and an abundance of blackberry on the nose. This full-bodied red wine is smoothing, supple and easy to drink. Tertiary notes of earthiness, floral, black plum, cassis, pepper and warm baking spices. Good acid to fruit ratio. Drinking nicely now but could be enjoyed over the next 5 years. Enjoy with braised lamb shank. Tasted: April 2017. OTHER: The 2011 Baron De Magana is a blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Tempranillo and Syrah aged in 70% new French oak for 14 months prior to bottling. The wine comes across as a Right Bank Pomerol from Bordeaux, with an opaque ruby/purple color, lush, sexy plum, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, a touch of licorice and forest floor. It's a layered, medium to full-bodied, pure, luscious and heady wine to drink over the next 5-7 years. Drink Date 2016-2023. Score - 91 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Nov. 29, 2015). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
