Founded by Andrew and Susie Nugent in 1997, Bird in Hand sources this Shiraz from breezy, higher-elevation parcels across the Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills, and Langhorne Creek. Lavender, blueberry compote, and a wisp of graphite greet the nose, while the palate layers juicy plum, crushed raspberry, cocoa nib, and a twist of cracked pepper. Polished tannins and lively acidity give it poise beside a grilled steak or grilled lamb. Drink now or over the next several years.

Shiraz food pairings: grilled steak, grilled pork chops, grilled lamb.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
