Tastes like a mocha dark chocolate Cabernet rather than zinfandel, though it's still tasty. Full-bodied. Pair with sweet barbecued ribs.

Zinfandel food pairings: roast veal breast, sausage casserole, roast quail with berry coulis.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Vibrant floral, berry and spice aromas are followed by juicy black plum, vanilla, and anise flavours. The palate shows chewy young tannins, balanced acidity, and a long mocha flavoured finish. Enjoy this full-bodied Zinfandel with braised bbq pork loin. Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
From Joseph J. Wagner & John J. Lopez, Beran 2013 is the latest project of Joe Wagner, former winemaker of Caymus. This Zin is deep and intense with lots of ripe berry fruit, plum on the palate and a peppery spicy finish. As it should be since this wine is over 15% abv. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
