Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Thomas Bachelder has been quoted as saying he wants to make Chardonnay 'sexy' again. Though he does this in Burgundy and Oregon, he always stays true to his project s in Niagara; producing some wonderful examples that live u pto the above quotation.
What's sexy about it? It has tremendous balance, complexity for the price, and subtle oaking that keeps it light and bright.
It's moderate in alcohol, at 12.5% and has a pale lemon/green colouration to it.
Orchard blosssom, citrus juice, pie crust, pear , apple, and shaved coconut. As the name suggests it has a lot of minerality and texture that the aromas prepare you for. You can smell the coiled energy waiting for you.
The flavours are pure and delicious. This is really light on its feet. It is everything right with cool climate Chardonnay. More replays of all the orchard fruit, but there is a lot of lemon amd lime too. The texture is lipsmacking.
There is a touch of the leesy pie crust coming through on the palate. This wine was barrel fermented and aged, but perhaps it saw some used oak. It does not crowd out the snap of energetic citrus and orchard fruit you get on the palate and the nose.
This wine is, unfortunately, not available in Ontario stores (unless maybe winery-direct). That saddening, since it is one of their best valued bottles for what you get. It's reserved for licensee customers, so look for it on restaurant wine lists near you! It is, however available at the SAQ, in Quebec.
Pair it with a turkey sandwich with garlic aioli, or maybe a prawn dish with lemon.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
