Vintages Wine Panel: A Silver Medal winner at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2008. Made with hand-harvested and -sorted grapes, this Reserva displays classic Carmenère aromas of blackberries with notes of spice, vanilla and cacao. The complex aromas ring clearly on the well-balanced palate and linger awhile on the finish. Try it with a medium-rare peppercorn steak, braised duck breast with a Bing cherry sauce, or an aged firm cheese like Gruyère. My note: A full-bodied red with alluring notes of black plum and blackberry. Polished tannins and a smooth texture. Nice, warm finish for such an incredibly affordable wine.

Reserva Carménère food pairings: Irish stew, bison, black pudding, hamburgers.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
