Antinori's Bramìto Della Sala Chardonnay from Umbria is a refined, medium-bodied white sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the scenic Umbrian hills, where cooler temperatures and mineral-rich soils coax remarkable elegance and precision from the grape. The nose offers an inviting bouquet of poached quince, warm brioche, and candied ginger, while the palate unfolds with layers of ripe white fig, grilled peach, and a gentle thread of wood smoke underpinned by a silky, chalk-dusted minerality that carries through to a clean, focused finish. The Antinori family, one of Italy's most storied wine dynasties with over six centuries of winemaking history, are perhaps best known for revolutionizing Italian wine with their Super Tuscans, yet this Umbrian Chardonnay stands as quiet proof that their ambition extends beautifully beyond Tuscany's borders. Coming in right at 13% alcohol, it strikes an ideal balance between richness and vitality, best served slightly below room temperature to let its layered complexity breathe. This wine will drink well through 2033, and it shines alongside a golden roast chicken with wild mushroom pan sauce, where the wine's smoky, earthy undertones find a natural counterpart, or try it with a duck breast glazed in cherry reduction, where its ripe fruit core and mineral backbone bring the dish into perfect harmony.

Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken, duck, rabbit fricassee, baked mushroom stuffed quail.
