Alvi's Drift's 221 Chenin Blanc from Western Cape is a complex, medium-bodied white wine offering notes of white peach, passion fruit, jasmine and citrus peel. This dry wine displays crisp acidity and intriguing earthy undertones that add depth and character. Serve it chilled with grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce as the wine's bright acidity balances the rich flavors, or pair it with roasted butternut squash soup where the wine's fruit complements the sweet vegetable. Winemaker Alvi van der Merwe ferments this Chenin Blanc with indigenous yeasts before aging it in a combination of French oak and stainless steel, creating layers of complexity while maintaining the wine's refreshing character. Alvi's Drift has been family-owned since 1928 and sits in the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains, where diverse soils and cooling breezes create ideal conditions for producing expressive, terroir-driven wines. This wine earned an impressive 93 points at the 2025 International Wine & Spirits Awards and represents excellent quality and will drink beautifully through 2028.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: grilled prawns, grilled chicken dishes, roasted root vegetables.
