Alamos Selección Malbec from La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza is a deeply coloured, medium to full-bodied dry red that opens with an expressive nose of dark plum, crushed violet, black cherry, and dried black tea, with a subtle thread of cedar and warm baking spice winding through. On the palate it is generous and polished, with velvety, fine-grained tannins, a core of concentrated dark berry fruit, and a long finish that carries a pleasing hint of cocoa and black pepper. Serve it at room temperature and enjoy now, as this wine is drinking beautifully in its current window through 2026. Winemaker Felipe Stahlschmidt crafts this Selección from older, high-elevation vineyard blocks in the Valle de Uco, partially maturing the wine in used oak barrels to add complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The Alamos label is rooted in the Catena family legacy, one of the founding forces of modern Argentine winemaking, whose pioneering work at extreme altitudes in the Andes foothills helped put Mendoza Malbec on the world wine map more than a century ago. Pair it with herb-roasted lamb leg resting on a bed of roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes, where the wine's dark fruit depth mirrors the richness of the meat, or enjoy it with a bowl of spaghetti and slow-simmered meat sauce, letting the wine's earthy spice weave into every bite.

Malbec food pairings: herb-roasted lamb, pork tenderloin, cheddar cheese, spaghetti and meat balls.
