Trapiche Terroir Series Finca Ambrosia Single Vineyard Malbec 2013, Mendoza, Argentina: Made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the Gualtallany, Tupungato regions of Mendoza planted at 1307 metres above sea level in calcium carbonate soils. Gualtallany is an increasingly fashionable region within the Mendoza as the fruit there develops rich polyphenols in the skins: colour, flavour and tannin character. Aromas of black fruit, smoke, pencil led and anise with great minerality. The wine was aged for 19 months in French oak barrels. This wine is suggested to those studying for the Master of Wine exam as one of the best examples of Argentine Malbec.
