Concha Y Toro Marques De Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Maipo Valley, Chile: Juicy with delicious aromas and flavours of fleshy ripe black plums that you can almost sink your teeth into. This Chilean Cabernet is made from grapes grown in the winery's Puente Alto and Pique vineyards at the foot of the Andes mountains. The vines are planted in rocky soils that have alluvial origins and are nutrient poor, which is perfect for wine. There is gravel on the sub-soil level. Pair with grilled meats. A juicy, full-bodied Chilean Cabernet loaded with fleshy ripe purple and black plums, blackberry jam and toasty oak. Smooth and supple. Rocca Delle Macìe Chianti Riserva 2014, Tuscany Docg, Italy: Rustic, robust and very tannic. Aromas of black fruit and toasty oak. This Italian DOCG red wine made from the Sangiovese grape was aged for 2 years in oak barrels. Dark cherry fruit, some toasty oak that's nicely balanced. Produced by Montezovo, this full-bodied red wine has a lovely bite plus rich, ripe blackberries and dark fruit. Just enough toasty oak. Wonderful wine for the price point: full-bodied, juicy, and layers of rich black cherry aromas and flavours. Good acidity, nice balance overall. Trapiche Terroir Series Finca Ambrosia Single Vineyard Malbec 2013, Mendoza, Argentina: Made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the Gualtallany, Tupungato regions of Mendoza planted at 1307 metres above sea level in calcium carbonate soils. Gualtallany is an increasingly fashionable region within the Mendoza as the fruit there develops rich polyphenols in the skins: colour, flavour and tannin character. Aromas of black fruit, smoke, pencil led and anise with great minerality. The wine was aged for 19 months in French oak barrels. This wine is suggested to those studying for the Master of Wine exam as one of the best examples of Argentine Malbec.
