Tahbilk Marsanne 2013, Nagambie Lakes, Central Victoria, Australia: Lemon-yellow essence with some dry honey and white peach on this Australian white wine made from the lesser-known Marsanne grape, traditional to the Rhone Valley. Wonderful white that will get you out of that Chardonnay rut you’ve been in. Rhone grapes do very well in Australia's Victoria region due to the climate and soils there. Pair with veal. Yalumba Viognier 2013, Eden Valley, South Australia, Australia: Deep, resonant Viognier for those not afraid of flavour. Dare you! Beautiful and exotic with white floral notes in this vibrant white wine. It's smooth yet characterful in the mouth. Some apricot-peach on the finish. This vibrant Australian white wine is made from 100% indigenous yeasts. Kudos to winemaker Louisa Rose. Try this style and compare it to those from the Rhone region of Condrieu.
