Teliani Valley Alazani Valley Red Semi-Sweet 2011, Georgia, Georgia: Sweet red wine is an acquired taste. If you’ve acquired it, this is your wine. Lovely sweet cherries and blackberry liqueur. Georgia is actually one of the world's oldest wine-producing regions and the Saperavi grape is indigenous here. This is a terrific wine to sip on after dinner with or without dessert. Raymond Field Blend Lot No. 7 Named Varietal Blends-Red 2010, California, United States: A terrific wine for the money! Full-bodied, juicy and mouth-watering. Luscious layers of dark fruit and berries that finishes long, smoky and satisfying. This wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, petite sirah and zinfandel with a few other grapes in minute amounts. This is where field blend comes from and it's a traditional method of planting different grape varieties in a vineyard rather than just one. There are notes of blackberries and plums on the finish. Montes Purple Angel Carmenere 2010, Colchagua Valley, Chile: An amazing wine; a classic for those looking for Chile's flagship labels. There’s a splash of Petit Verdot grapes in this mostly Carmenère-driven red. Deep, long and complex with layers of mouth-watering juiciness. Deep purple says it all, including both the colour and the aromas of fleshy dark plums and berries. There's cedar smoke and spices on the finish. Truly a wine for hedonists. Matua Valley Estate Series Paretai Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Marlborough, New Zealand: Powerful and mouth-watering in the absolutely best tradition of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Grassy, lime-zest refreshment with layers of complexity and satisfaction. Terrific! This is the winery's flagship label and the grapes are grown in the Northbank Vineyard on the bank of Wairau River. The wine is not oak-aged to maintain pure fruit refreshment and liveliness. There's a lovely lime lift and gooseberry zest on the finish. Pair with vegetarian dishes and seafood.
