Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir 2019, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, BC V.Q.A., Canada: Meyer 2019 Pinot Noir is a blend of PN grapes from six Okanagan Valley vineyards and a lovely blend it is. Fresh, dry, medium-bodied and silky on the palate with ripe cherry, sous bois, violets, earthy fresh mushroom and savoury herbs with velvety tannins and a smoky, silky smooth finish. The wine was aged eight months in neutral oak barrels just to marry and mellow the wine. Generous and enticing, lightly chill and pour this beautiful B.C. Pinot Noir with duck confit. Closson Chase Churchside Pinot Noir 2019, Prince Edward County, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: From Prince Edward County wine region, Closson Chase Churchside 2019 Pinot Noir is a fresh and fragrant with cherry, ripe raspberry, subtle spicy, savoury and smoky aromas and flavours with just a kiss of toasted oak on the palate. Dry, medium-bodied showing finesse, elegance and power, enticing and silky with fine-grained tannins. Pinot Noir grapes for this vintage were destemmed and cold-soaked up to give days prior to fermentation in large oak barrels. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months (20% new). Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2017, Canberra District, Australia: From Australia's Canberra District, Clonakilla Hilltops 2017 Shiraz is perfumed with exotic aromas of dark spices, pink florals, dark cherry and dark berries. The wine is dry, full-bodied, lush, smoky and spicy with ripe dark cherry, dark berry compote, cracked black pepper, savoury flavours and pleasantly grippy, fine-grained tannins. Shiraz grapes for this vintage were sourced from five vineyards in the Young wine region and were cold soaked on their skins for a couple of days prior to fermentation with a portion of the grapes added whole clustered. Zuccardi Emma Bonarda 2018, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: Zuccardi Emma 2018 is a robust Argentine wine made form the country's lesser-known Bonarda grape. This top Bonarda is a tribute to Abuela Emma who, at 93, remains active in the winery. Grapes were sourced from the San Pablo and Altamira zones in the cool-climate Uco Valley. The wine is fresh with lively acidity and bright cherry, red plum, red berry, dried fruit and savoury herb flavours on the palate. Lightly chill and enjoy with lamb and veggie kebabs from the grill. Mönchhof Ürzig Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett 2019, Mosel Prädikatswein, Germany: Mönchhof Ürzig Würzgarten 2019 Riesling is a Mosel Prädikatswein. Grapes were harvested at 82° Oechsle and fermented out to a fruity-style Riesling with 50g/l residual sugar. The wine is medium-bodied, softly sweet, lush and mouth-watering with white floral, peach, creamsicle and smoky, mineral mouth-coating flavours. Needs some time to mature and while drinkable now, will truly show what it's made of in a decade or two. Riesling Kabinett food pairings: pork roast, smoked fish, brunch dishes, Korean style ribs.
