Mymi Thesingingsommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The Castello di Gabbiano estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany. The historical “castello” dates back from the 12th century but has been restored into a spectacular hotel which includes its own restaurant, a swimming pool, as well as the winery itself and over 100 hectares of vines and olive groves. All the wine-making work is done on the premises so guests also witness the whole process from picking grapes to bottling.
This Chianti is made from 90% Sangiovese and blended with Merlot as well as other indigenous grapes. Sugar levels in the Chianti appellation have recently been raised by almost half what they were obligated to be by law so if you are looking for an introduction into this wine-style, or you are a white wine drinker wanting to expand your horizons, this might be the ideal wine to start with.
Light ruby in the glass and reminiscent of a Beaujolais Nouveau on the nose with loads of red berry fruit, vanilla yogurt fruit candy and violets.
Friendly, fresh and juicy on the palate with just the right balance between fruit and dryness.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
