Natalie's Score: 91/100 Lemon-yellow essence with some dry honey and white peach on this Australian white wine made from the lesser-known Marsanne grape, traditional to the Rhone Valley. Wonderful white that will get you out of that Chardonnay rut you’ve been in. Rhone grapes do very well in Australia's Victoria region due to the climate and soils there. Pair with veal.
Marsanne food pairings: crab cakes, beef bourguignon, pasta with tomato sauce, pork tenderloin, cheese.

Reviews and Ratings
Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Tahbilk is owned by the Purbrick family and has a very colorful history that started in 1925 when savvy business man Reginald bought the property sight unseen planning to uproot the vines and sub-divide into dairy farms. His plans changed when he was convinced by his son in rehabilitating the winery instead. And as they say, the rest is history! The winery is located in the Nagambie Lakes region of Central Victoria. The Purbrick’s have five generations of family ownership and are the oldest family owned winery in the State of Victoria. Marsanne is one of the world's rarest grape varieties originating in the Northern Rhone & Hermitage regions of France and it is grown in only 3 other countries, Australia, America & Switzerland. Tahbilk holds the largest and oldest single holding of the variety in the world. The Estate still produces Marsanne from plantings dating back to 1927. In the glass, it is a golden yellow color. The nose is intense with aromas of apricots, ripe pineapple, honey, lime zest and a little marshmallows. The palate is rich and sumptuous. It is dry with loads of exotic fruit marmalade and a little almond paste. Soft acidity which gives it a high “guzzle” factor! Absolutely delicious! To have on its own or with salty parmesan crostini or with a spicy vegetarian chow-mein!
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Priya: Nutty and buttery smelling...and what's a marsanne? Mostly only grown in Northern Rhone, France. Also a bit astringent on the nose. Has a nice clean finish, and leaves a bit of a memory on your tongue then bids you farewell. 86pts. Alex: This is always one of my favorite white wines from Australia, and at a bargain price that few can compete with for value. Lovely nutty, green vegetable fiber, rubber, butter and brown sugar nose. Oily and rich palate laden with peach, and plenty of nutty complexity. Finishes long and silky with a dollop of lemon oil. It's concentration makes up for the typically low acidity of Marsanne. Beautiful white wine to contemplate at dusk..91 pts
