Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2010 Funambule, composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Syrah and 10% Merlot is a medium bodied, fruity wine, with notes of strawberry, raspberry and delicate blackberry. It has subtle to refined tannins (decant for 30 to 60 min to allow for the aromas to be fully revealed) and a medium, fruit filled finish. It is ready to drink now or can be cellared for the next 4-5 years. It is a wine of a great value, when considering its cost of $11.95 and 88-89 point rating. Tasted March/12.

Vineyards are located between Montpellier and Beziers, in the heart of the Languedoc wine-producing region, has clay and limestone soil bordered by Mediterrean garrigue. Harvest is part mechanical and part by hand. Temperature controlled fermentation with punching of the cap regularly and a short maceration after primary fermentation. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are aged in stainless steel tanks while the Merlot spends 6 months in French Oak barrels (Bordeaux 225 litres).

Blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Syrah and 10% oak aged Merlot. Winemaker notes the wine has cherry cordial and dark berry notes on the nose with mixed berry fruit on the palate with nuances of spice and fresh violets which finishes long with a crunchy
tannin and nut accent. The enologist likes that its medium body makes it an enjoyable sipper in summer, winter, fall and spring.

GOLD Medal and 91 points at Beverage Tasting Institute’s World Value Wine Challenge
(Chicago, October 15, 2011) and rated it the #1 wine in the Top 10 wines under $10 U.S.
