Fermín Hidalgo, eighth-generation owner and winemaker, crafts this unfiltered, unfined expression bottled directly from cask using only 35 of the solera's 1,000-liter barrels for this Spring 2023 release, continuing the family legacy established in 1792 when founder José Pantaleón Hidalgo purchased a small storage facility from his father-in-law near the Guadalquivir River in the seaside town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and the name "La Gitana" honors a flamenco dancer known for her beauty who sold the wine at her Málaga bar in the late 19th century.
