On many occasions it's just pot luck as to which bottle of wine I choose. I mean I narrow it down, I do my usual check list, but at the end of the day 1/3 of my bottles I buy each week are bought on pure chance that I will like them. Everything about this wine told me to be cautious, it was the label that drew me in, and you all know how weak I am when it comes to pretty, pretty!

Oh boy! And a wow thrown in for good measure! Bingo! This wine is goooooooddddd!!!

First I need to say that the wine was decanted for an hour, but after two hours this was nectar.
In the glass it is a dark, rich, syrupy deep purple colour.
On the nose there are black cherries, black currants, soft plums, strawberries, cedar chips and violets.
On the palate, wow, intense class and sophistication. Deep rich cherries, cooked plums, toasty black fruit. Zesty orange almost like a Grand Marnier energy. There is a full mouth of licorice and bitter dark chocolate. Black pepper spice steps forward with nutmeg and cloves, oak barrel and long, long tannins.

This is in my opinion and end of the evening wine or a wine to have with a meal with intense flavours like the strong taste of foul like pheasant or the intensity of game like venison.

And all of this for .....$21..... Yup.......I know!
