Meaty, savoury and lip-smacking delicious! Enticing eucalyptus and blackberry aromas in this full-bodied, smooth Australian red wine. Sure to please even the most hardened cabernet fan. Loaded with concentrated dark red fruit flavours on the finish, along with a spice kick. This robust red wine was not fined or filtered. Pair with meat lovers pizza.

Shiraz food pairings: black bean soup, blue cheese, caramelized onion dip.

Reviews and Ratings

The palate of this big Australian Shiraz offers lots of black fruit and smoke. This wine was matured for 12-18 months in a combination of French and American oak. Fermentation was stopped two-thirds of the way through and juice was not filtered. "Footbolt" is named in honour of the racehorse that founder Joseph Osborn had to sell in order to start the d'Arenberg winery in 1912. Since 1912, the Osborn family has farmed vineyards in the McLaren Vale. Winemaker Chester Osborn takes small batches of grapes that are crushed then transferred to open fermenters and then foot treading is undertaken. The wine is aged in American and French oak for 12-18 months. - Community Wine Reviews
