Château Plaisance Bordeaux Supérieur A.O.C. is a dry, medium to full-bodied Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, opening with an elegant, lifted nose of ripe black cherry, cassis, peony, fresh cedar, and a thread of dried herbs and graphite. The palate is plush and generously textured, with well-integrated tannins, mouthwatering acidity, and a core of dark berry fruit that carries through to a long, savory finish with a whisper of mocha and tobacco leaf. Decant for an hour before serving at room temperature, and enjoy from 2026 through 2036, as this wine has the depth and structure to reward patient cellaring. Technical director Ludovic Labarrere, who trained in Chile alongside renowned Bordeaux oenologist Michel Rolland before returning to France to work for twelve years with celebrated consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, brings impressive credentials to this estate. Château Plaisance itself has a colorful ownership history, having previously passed through the hands of French football star Bixente Lizarazu and the prominent Magrez wine family before its current chapter, with the château's origins dating to the 18th century on soils that border the Margaux appellation. Pair it with rosemary-studded roast leg of lamb rested on a bed of white beans and garlic, where the wine's cassis and cedar notes will embrace the richness of the meat, or try it with a golden roast pheasant with mushroom and thyme jus, letting the wine's savory, earthy depth echo every bite.

Food pairings: veal chops, rosemary lamb, roast pheasant.
