Vintages Wine Panel: Time is showing that the 2006 white wines grown in Ontario are verging on classic. This Chardonnay from Angels Gate is a case in point. Filled with aromas of pineapple, melon, popcorn, butter and smoke, it is dry, fruity and forceful, yet impeccably balanced. The oak is expertly integrated. It will also reward 2-4 years. My note: Rich and buttery yet still medium- to full-bodied (not heavy). Rounded aromas of butterscotch and ripe peaches. I like this producer a lot.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2009 Angels Gate Old Vines Chardonnay, aged in French Oak for 8 months, has intense aromas of coffee, caramel, hawthorn, green and yellow apple. It is a light to medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine, with clean, crisp acidity, and a long, roasted coffee filled finish. Enjoy this one by itself; drink now – 2020. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts – recommended based on both quality and value. Tasted at International Cool Climate Chardonnay – i4C event July/13.

Holly Bruns rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is one of those wines that you just want more of; tropical fruit with a little spicy baked apple on the nose and for a medium bodied wine, it's very balanced on the palate. Smooth. There's a tinge of lemon on the finish that livens everything up.
